Abstract: 

Objective: Information and communication technologies have created new horizons to eradicate the limitations of traditional interactive systems. Providing electronic public Services in libraries is one of the optimum applications of these technologies. This applied research, investigated the attitude of users of academic libraries in providing electronic public Services in academic libraries.Methodology: To achieve the objectives, descriptive- analytical method is used. The research community was selected by stratified random sampling among Tehran university students, using researcher made questionnaire.Findings: The results showed that the amount of cognitions of the students about the various kinds of electronic public Services was below the average. General attitude of the students of the different universities in Tehran to provide such Services was positive, and their education level in this kind of attitude was ineffective.Conclusion: There was a significant positive correlation between the students’ use of electronic public Services and the amount of their cognition about these Services, and also between their attitude and cognition about the aforementioned Services.

Abstract: 

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to "design a model for evaluating the responsiveness of Iranian university Library Services". Methodology: In this research, a qualitative model for evaluating the responsiveness of Library Services in the university libraries of the country was developed using a qualitative method. The study population consisted of 15 university Library managers and librarianship experts who were selected by snowball method. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data in this study.Findings: according to the weight obtained in the coding stages, user satisfaction indicators, employee information literacy, use of service innovations, application of technology, service delivery as an underlying process, access to information, holding training courses In line with the goals and continuous and regular assessment of service quality, they were able to gain the most weight. In order to design the relevant model, 9 components were identified, which are 1- Leadership 2- Policy 3- Employee Outcomes 4- User Outcomes 5- Employees 6- Processes 7- Community Outcomes 8- Key Performance Outcomes and 9- Partnerships and Resources Conclution: According to the designed model, it seems that the components of leadership, policy and strategy, as well as processes will affect employees, partnerships and resources, and thus affect the results of employees and users. The results of the model also show that the results of employees and users affect the results of the community and ultimately the key results of performance. This model is useful for comparing the responsive quality of a Library service with other academic libraries.

Abstract: 

The course Library Materials and Services for New Literate Adults is the only course for which no suitable text is translated into Farsi. During the last 30 years the topics mostly related to adult basic education courses were presented in this course. But teachers knew that the philosophy of these two courses is not the same and therefore, prepared many suitable topics for their classes. Till now, six books have been published in this regards. Although these books have a lot in common, each includes different parts based on research conducted in Iran, These parts have the potentials to be presented and discussed as topics with rich information for the course. The collected endeavour in this regards lead to topics which may be regarded as nativeknowledge in Library and information studies.

Abstract: 

Mobile phones have revolutionized telecommunications and communications and have had a massive impact on our private and social life. Mobile phones have had an undeniable impact on all aspects of our social, economic, cultural and scientific lives in a way that it would not be wise to ignore them in designing and implementing any information system. This article aims to introduce and discuss the capacities of mobile phone technology as a communication tool for Library Services, with an emphasis on its application in Iranian Library and information centers.

Abstract: 

Purpose: This study seeks to analyze the Iranian librarians' opinion about mobile Library Services offered by cell phones.Methodology: Internet survey method is used in this research. To collect the required data a researcher-developed questionnaire was utilized. Finally, 288 individuals responded to it.Findings: 100% of respondents permanently used conversation facilities and SMS of cell phones, while 63% and 62% used other potentials of cell phones for listening music and taking photo and video, respectively. 63.5% of respondents agreed to allow mobile phone presence in the Library environment and they believed that this is not an annoying action. Among several proposed Services, with 98%, awareness via SMS alerts regarding Library's new resources was the most favorable service.Conclusion: The implementation of mobile Library Services can lead to increased users' easiness and access to Library Services and facilities, and it is expected that the efficiency of Library Services will be more felt in users' daily life.

Abstract: 

Purpose The main purpose of this article is to address Services and programs provided by public libraries in developing countries based on the views of public libraries users, and not on the basis of recommendations from international forums and institutions. Methodology A qualitative approach is implemented and the grounded theory method is used in the case study of Iran as a developing country. Data collection involved the use of semi-structured interviews, the interviews varied between 20 and 60 minute duration. To support the semi structured interviewing process the researcher developed an interview guide with a formal question set. Results 1. Motivation and user satisfaction Services such as all kinds of scientific and artistic and cultural competitions, specialized Services for children and teenagers, free internet access and computers, changing Library environment, laboratory facilities, and book reading groups, poetry groups, etc., convenience Services, creativity enhancements Services, up to date resources, cafes and restaurants, rest areas. 2. Education & teaching Services such as all kinds of classes and workshops, information literacy training, literacy Services, Library tours, consulting Services, mobile libraries. 3. Recreational and entertainment Services: book cafes, workgroups and group programs, and a variety of fun resources (including movies, etc. ), book reviews. 4. Reference and information Services such as providing selective information, virtual information, in-person information, interLibrary loan and document delivery Services, in-person and virtual update Services. Therefore, public libraries of Iran can prioritize these Services in order to improve the level of satisfaction and attract more and more users' in their planning and policy making.

Abstract: 

Supporting distance learners requires a shift in the traditional "Library" mindset. Librarians who serve distance learners must com up with new and innovative ways to meet the needs in their unique users. Librarians must attempt to define and identify who their distance users are and what their needs are, and in turn, develop and implement a set of Library resources and Services in support of these needs. Promotion of the resources and Services available is necessary in order to successfully provide Library support; students and faculty must know what Services are available and how to access them.

Abstract: 

Introduction: In recent decades, Augmented Reality has attracted more attention and by adding a layer of virtual information, it has provided a new experience for libraries to increase their response to the needs of a large and diverse population of users. The present study seeks to identify the impact of Augmented Reality on Library Services in order to develop an understanding about what and how actions are currently being taken by technology. Methodology: Due to the inadequate and scattered information on the Augmented Reality flooding into the libraries, this study aimed to investigate the aspects of Library Services influenced by Augmented Reality. To this end, a qualitative content analysis was used to employ the data gathered from the three scientific databases of Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Scopus. Findings: The findings suggest that Augmented Reality is well capable of supporting librarians in managing Library resources. Moreover, it could aid users in (1) searching for Library resources, (2) learning about Library Services and information literacy, (3) receiving location-based Services, (4) creating interactive and research networks, and (5) visiting historic and scarce recourses. Conclusion: The results of present study showed that the focus of most researchers and developers of Augmented Reality applications was on facilitation Services for Library users than librarians. In addition, the empowerment of children and adolescents as independent Library users has been special attention. Researchers at the department of information and knowledge science, librarians, child and adolescent librarians, and computer science experts can use the practical suggestions of this research. Therefore, it is imperative that researchers interact with librarians and Library users, or even bring librarians as researchers, to inform the issues of these sites and to move towards the realization of fourth-generation libraries through technologies such as Augmented Reality.

Abstract: 

This study aims to explore the extent of AI integration in public libraries, identify the benefits and challenges faced by libraries in adopting AI technologies, and propose strategies for effective implementation. It seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of AI applications in Library Services and offer insights into future trends. Employing a qualitative research design, this study collected data through semi-structured interviews with 29 participants, including librarians, IT specialists, Library managers, and Library users. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the interview transcripts, allowing for the identification of key themes related to AI integration in public libraries. Four main themes emerged from the data: AI Applications, Challenges and Responses, Service Evolution, and Adoption and Integration. AI Applications were categorized into User Interaction, Operational Tasks, and Learning Tools, highlighting AI's role in enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency. Challenges and Responses revealed technical barriers, staff training needs, user engagement issues, and financial constraints as significant obstacles to AI adoption. Service Evolution demonstrated AI's impact on information accessibility, user experience, operational improvements, and community outreach. Adoption and Integration emphasized the importance of strategic planning, community involvement, and policy compliance in successfully integrating AI into Library Services. The study concludes that while AI offers substantial opportunities to redefine public Library Services, its successful integration requires addressing technical, ethical, and financial challenges. Libraries must focus on staff training, ethical AI use, and strategic planning to fully realize the benefits of AI. Future research should aim to quantify the impact of AI on Library Services and explore innovative AI applications in diverse Library contexts.

Abstract: 

Purpose: This research aimed to identify high-priority Services to be provided in the National Library Portal by evaluating the Services of the OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) as an important center known worldwide that provides cooperative and shared Services, and also by assessing a number of Library web-portals and interviewing librarians and experts.Methodology/Approach: A researcher-made questionnaire was used for data collection. This research was qualitative and practical. The research population included 44 faculty members, managers and senior librarians who work in the National Library of Iran and who hold professional and administrative positions. Findings: Based on the responses collected about 25 Services expected to be presented in the National Library portal, that is, according to the viewpoint of expert staff, 20 of those Services were confirmed as desirable in the comprehensive portal of the National Library. Conclusion: On the basis of the research findings, the basic Services in the field of collaborative cataloguing Services and information organization, reference Services and information retrieval, should have priority in the launching of the integrated website.
